MY iTablet - MY iPhone Online StoreApple introduced the new iPhone 3G, combining all the revolutionary features of iPhone with 3G networking that is twice as fast as the first generation iPhone, built-in GPS for expanded location based mobile services, and iPhone 2.0 software which includes support for Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync and runs the hundreds of third party applications already built with the recently released iPhone SDK. The new iPhone 3G is priced at an amazing price of $199 for the 8GB model, and just $299 for the 16GB model.  iPhone 3G will be available in more than 70 countries later this year, beginning with customer availability in 22 countries-Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, UK and the US-on July 11.  We’ll post the iPhone 3G prices in the other 21 countries as they get announced.

Here’s the iPhone 3G breakdown on AT&T:

  • iPhone 3G will be available for $199 for the 8GB model and $299 for the 16GB model. These prices require two-year contracts and are available to the following customers:
  • iPhone customers who purchased before July 11
  • Customers activating a new line with AT&T
  • Current AT&T customers who are eligible, at the time of purchase, for an upgrade discount
  • Existing AT&T customers who are not currently eligible for an upgrade discount can purchase iPhone 3G for $399 for the 8GB model or $499 for the 16GB model. Both options require a new two-year service agreement.
  • Here’s the interesting part… “ In the future, AT&T will offer a no-contract-required option for $599 (8GB) or $699 (16GB).”

iPhone 3G Price for 16GB and 8GB for the US market

The price of the first-generation iPhone was outrageously high right at $599 for the 8GB model and $499 for the 4GB.  Apple later dropped the price down to $499 and $399 respectively.  There were outcries in the community for the price drop mainly because it was so soon after the initial launch.  Apple offered everyone a $100 in-store gift certificate so all was good in the world of Apple iPhone.

The iPhone 3G over the course of a 24-month contract may cost less than almost any other smartphone devices on the market. As you can see in this comparison, the original iPhone may be the cheapest, but in close second is the iPhone 3G.
